First Timers

  • Please check News section for booking and social distancing guidelines for attending class.
  • Class starts promptly. No late arrivals will be admitted.
  • Don’t eat too close to class.
  • Come hydrated.
  • Class is done barefoot.
  • Wear comfortable stretchy clothing—form fitting is best. Women should opt for shorts or leggings and a vest top. Men should wear shorts or leggings, T-shirt or vest optional.
  • Aim to stay in the room for 90 minutes.
  • Beginners should not be afraid to take breaks during class. Do not leave the room, stand still or kneel down on your mat.
  • The beginner class consists of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. Each posture is performed twice. Each person works to the best of their ability within their range of strength and flexibility.
  • A yoga mat, 2 medium/large towels and water are required. We have mats, towels and water for sale.

What to expect after your first class

  • You might feel very tired after class. This is absolutely normal and a good sign that your body is cleansing. Your energy levels should be restored to normal within several classes.
  • You might find yourself feeling extremely energetic and experience difficulty sleeping. Don’t worry—this is a good sign that the yoga is waking your body up.
  • You might feel sore or stiff the day after your first class. Come back to class as soon as possible! Your body is waking up and coming alive and you want to keep the process going!
  • You might feel nauseous, dizzy or have a headache after class. This could be a sign that you are dehydrated. Please drink lots of water before returning to class. Or it could be a sign that you were trying so hard that you weren’t breathing normally. Please breathe normally during every posture.
  • You might experience some skin irritation. This too is normal and means that the skin is releasing toxins. Showering after class is important. It will also help normalise the body temperature.
